Apocalyptica stands in the tradition of epic community theatre — where citizens and artists gather not simply to watch a story, but to collectively imagine the future.
At Marathon, ideology did not come first. The body did. Ten thousand citizen-soldiers held the line through breath, step, and the comrade beside them — and only afterwards did 'democracy' and 'freedom' emerge as names for what they had already lived. Apocalyptica is an attempt to put the human back into the body.
Apocalyptica began for me in the body — in a felt sense of emergency, an awareness that we are living through a hinge moment in human history. By moving the story forward to 2072, the myth of Marathon returns — now as a mythic battle for all our futures.
Join Apocalyptica as the first chapter is written — at the seed festival in Marathon, where democracy was born.
